Justin Truitt – Drummer | Producer | Educator | Innovator

Justin Truitt is a Las Vegas–based drummer, producer, songwriter, and educator whose career bridges elite performance, recording artistry, and transformative music education. Known for his powerful groove, dynamic expression, and creative versatility, Truitt’s playing embodies both technical precision and emotional depth.

As the cofounder and drummer of the indie-alternative band Newslang, Truitt has earned recognition for his captivating performances and production work on the band’s debut album More or Less. His solo instrumental release, The Mountain, showcases his cinematic approach to drumming and composition—merging acoustic and electronic textures into an evocative soundscape.

A veteran of Drum Corps International, Truitt marched with the 1999 Phantom Legion and the 2002 Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps, one of the most respected ensembles in the world. That same year, he was crowned the I&E Multi-Percussion World Champion, a testament to his technical mastery and musical artistry. In recognition of his continued impact, he has been selected to perform with the 2026 Phantom Regiment 70th Anniversary Alumni Corps, which will appear at the DCI World Championships in Indianapolis.

As the Director of Bands and Percussion at Lied STEM Academy, Truitt leads innovative programs including the Navigator Symphony, Early Bird Jazz Band, and Drumline, engaging over 300 students each year. His teaching philosophy combines musicianship, creativity, and technology—empowering students to perform with confidence, think critically, and connect their artistry to the world around them.

Truitt proudly endorses Sabian Cymbals, Remo Drumheads, Vic Firth Sticks, and Yamaha Drums, and continues to inspire the next generation through clinics, performances, and his company JT Dream Wave Music LLC—a platform dedicated to advancing modern drumming, music education, and creative entrepreneurship.
